Go Forth and Soar!

The beginning of every successful flight starts with a good launch. We've got the best quality winch and retriever line available. The selection of winch line depends a lot on the conditions at your flying field. If you have the luxury of flying on a grass field, then you can get away with lighter weight winch line. You don't have to concern yourself with the abrasion, snagging, and damage that comes from flying off gravel, dirt, rocks, and cactus beds like we do here in New Mexico. And yes, weight matters... particularly if your winch line gets wet. Your poor sailplane has to lift every inch of line from the turn-around pulley to the tow hook, and that can really put a load on a sailplane.. particularly a smaller two meter ship. But constantly breaking winch lines is no fun either, so making the proper choice of winch line is important. Some sailplane flyers have found success by using a "hybrid" set-up.. with heavier line (like maybe 200 pound test) for the ground line from the winch to the turn-around, and lighter line (like 125 pound test) for the "air" line. Either way, we've got you covered, with quality white braided nylon line for your winch, and twisted nylon line (Twisted snags less than braided) when used on a retriever. We also have high quality line swivels (particularly important if you are using a mechanical winch line retriever), and hand sewn F3B quality nylon parachutes.
