Winch and Retriever Line
Soaring Stuff carries the best quality nylon line available... in 125 pound test, and 200 pound test braided varieties for use on a winch or high start, and also 80 pound twisted line for use on a power retriever.
If you have the luxury of flying off a grass field, the 125 pound test line should be fine. If you have to fly from gravel, dirt, or asphalt, then you will probably want the 200 pound test, to minimize the abrasion damage and line breaks that come with rough ground conditions.
Some folks use a "hybrid" setup, with a 200 pound test "ground line", and 125 pound test for the "air" line. That way, the line that stays on the ground is tougher, but your sailplane doesn't have to lift the weight of the heavier line to the top of the launch. Keep in mind, too, that heavier line will soak up more moisture, making it REALLY heavy.
